Elte Rauch, still taken from the film Writing on Water by Huw Wahl

  • ‘Elte Rauch writes with a sense of despair and optimism, with seriousness and irony, and ultimately with hope.’

    — De Volkskrant

  • ‘Elte Rauch leads us in a stormy way into the depths of an obsessive mind. One that drifts between fantasy and reality, that uses fictionas a means of survival andcontinues to fight for its right to exist. "Johan" is a courageous book.’

    —Emma Hooff

  • 'Rauch's debut novel is a marvelous, life-affirming fictional diary.'

    — Het Parool
